Kalga

Kalga is a Himalayan village which is at an altitude of 2300 meters near Barshaini in Parvati Valley of Himachal Pradesh. Kalga is situated on a wooded hill and has Apple orchards. The entire Parvati valley can be viewed from Kalga and has a panoramic view. The Kheerganga trek starts from Kalga itself. The natives are dependent on Apple farming and some other forms of farming for livelihood. The beautiful Apple orchards, forests and grazing lands make Kalga a must visit destination in Himachal Pradesh.

How to Reach Kalga?

By air

Take a flight from Delhi or Chandigarh to Bhuntar.

To reach Kalga one should reach Barshaini village in Parvati valley and then walk to Kalga.

The walk from the Barshaini dam uphill to Kalga would take about 25 minutes. Porters are available to carry luggage upwards.

By Road

Bus:
You can take a bus from Delhi or Chandigarh to Bhuntar. From Bhuntar, you will get many local buses going to Barshaini.
If you don’t get a direct bus, get down at Manikaran and take another bus to Barshaini.

Car:

You can drive from Delhi or Chandigarh to Bhuntar. From Bhuntar, you will drive to Barshaini via Manikaran.

Best time to visit Kalga:

Kalga weather is excellent though not predictable. The best time to visit Kalga is from April to November. Youth loves the snow therefore even December till mid-January is good for people who like the snow.
